William breaks this down, explaining that the bill outlines “a tax at the rate of 4,79 for each transfer plus the making tax.” There’s also a clause to change zero back to 55 – indicating this is just the starting point, not the ceiling.
He warns that this number is subject to further increases depending on how future inflation adjustments are applied. If passed, this could effectively price most law-abiding gun owners out of legally obtaining items like suppressors or short-barreled rifles.
