A New Mexico woman is facing multiple criminal charges after police say she falsely reported that her ex-boyfriend was traveling to the airport with a bomb, triggering a major law-enforcement response that temporarily closed Roswell Air Center while officers detained the man and searched his vehicle.
Patrol Cam Live, a YouTube channel that publishes police body-camera footage, reported that the incident unfolded on April 8, 2026, after 47-year-old Brooke Ayers allegedly called American Airlines and claimed that her 34-year-old former boyfriend, who was preparing to fly home to Indiana, had explosives in his truck.
The man was eventually cleared after a bomb team and K9 unit found no explosives, while Ayers was arrested following a tense encounter at her home that, according to police, included threats toward officers, resistance during handcuffing, and repeated statements about harming herself.
Airport Operations Stop as Police Search for the Man
The body-camera footage shows officers at Roswell Air Center turning away travelers and telling them the airport was temporarily closed because of an active situation.
Some passengers arrived expecting to catch scheduled flights and were told they would have to wait while officers investigated the threat.
Police then located the man associated with the report as he arrived near the airport in a rental vehicle.
