A Florida man who told deputies that his wife fell from their golf cart after he made a turn was later arrested for DUI after she suffered a severe head injury and died at the hospital, according to body-camera footage featured by Law&Crime BodyCam.
The channel’s narrator identified the couple as 64-year-old Angelo Theodosiou and his 58-year-old wife, Christina Theodosiou, and said the crash happened in St. Johns County.
The footage begins with an emergency call reporting that a woman had fallen from a golf cart and suffered heavy bleeding from the back of her head.
First responders soon found Christina critically injured and arranged for a medical helicopter to take her to a trauma center.
Husband Says She Fell During a Turn
Deputies turned their attention to Angelo, who told them he had been driving the golf cart with his wife as the only passenger.
“I took a turn and I was wearing those seats. She came off,” Angelo told an officer in the footage.
He acknowledged that the couple had been drinking during the evening.

“We were drinking,” he said, describing it initially as their usual amount before mentioning whiskey and later telling officers they had been drinking tequila.
Angelo said they had been heading home when he took a turn and Christina fell from the cart.
He repeatedly said he had not realized how badly she was injured at first.
“I didn’t realize she was hurt that bad,” he told deputies.
The footage gives the impression of someone gradually beginning to understand how serious the situation had become. Early on, Angelo seems focused on finding out where his wife is being taken, but as more deputies arrive, the scene shifts into a crash and possible DUI investigation.
Witness Says Christina Was Unresponsive
A nearby witness told deputies that she had not seen the moment Christina fell, but heard Angelo yelling and then saw him trying to move his wife.
The witness said Christina did not appear responsive.
“She was not looking good,” the woman told an officer.
She also said Angelo appeared to have been drinking and described seeing him drag Christina by her arms while trying to move her from where she had fallen.
Another deputy told the witness that investigators would address the alcohol issue, but that the immediate priority was Christina’s condition.
“We’re worried about her right now,” the officer said.
That is one of the more striking aspects of the footage. For the first several minutes, everyone at the scene is still operating with some hope that Christina may survive, even as the severity of her injuries becomes increasingly obvious.
Deputies Refuse to Let Angelo Drive Away
Angelo repeatedly asked about leaving the scene or taking the golf cart home, but deputies made clear that he would not be allowed to drive.
One officer tried to explain the situation carefully.
“I’ve tried to be blunt without specifically saying it,” the deputy told him. “You’ve been drinking. I don’t want you driving.”

Angelo agreed to call his son, who he said was sober and could come to the scene.
The Law&Crime BodyCam narrator later said Christina was flown to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead hours later.
Once deputies learned how serious the crash had become, the investigation expanded.
One officer explained that even though the golf cart had not struck another vehicle or object, the fact that Christina fell out and suffered serious injuries meant the event would still be treated as a traffic crash.
Angelo said neither of them had been wearing seat belts.
He estimated that he had been traveling no faster than about 20 mph when he made the turn.
DUI Investigator Arrives
A specially trained DUI investigator later approached Angelo and told him directly that he was now part of an impaired-driving investigation.
The deputy said he could smell alcohol from several feet away and explained that investigators would consider Angelo’s statements, witness accounts, dispatch information and his own observations.
He offered Angelo an opportunity to perform field sobriety exercises.
Angelo declined.
The investigator explained that refusing the exercises meant he would make his decision based on the totality of the available evidence.
After asking once more, the deputy placed Angelo under arrest.
“You’re being arrested for a DUI with injuries,” the investigator told him.
Angelo appeared confused and repeatedly asked why he was being arrested, even after the deputy explained the reason several times.
His focus remained largely on Christina.
“I’d like to see how my wife is doing,” he said while officers searched his belongings.
The deputy told him that Christina had already been flown by helicopter to a trauma center and that officers would pass along updates when they received them.
Officer Gives Grim Update on Christina
Later, after Angelo had been transported, a deputy returned with an update from fire rescue.
He explained that Christina had been rated a three on the Glasgow Coma Scale when she was transported, with 15 representing someone fully alert and one representing the worst possible condition.
“She was a three,” the deputy told Angelo.

He added that he did not have more information but promised to keep him updated.
That exchange is one of the most painful moments in the footage because Angelo was still asking for information without apparently knowing that his wife would not survive.
The officer handled the update carefully, telling him that if his own significant other were injured, he would want to know everything possible too.
Angelo later refused a breath sample.
When another investigator asked him to consent to a blood draw because the crash involved serious bodily injury, Angelo said he wanted to speak with an attorney.
“I just want my wife to be okay,” he said.
His Account of Drinking Changed
During later questioning, Angelo’s description of the couple’s alcohol consumption became less consistent.
Earlier, he had openly acknowledged that both he and Christina had been drinking and suggested they drank roughly the same amount.
Later, he said they had not consumed much alcohol and eventually described his own intake as one drink.
He also gave a lower estimate of the golf cart’s speed, saying he may have been traveling around 10 mph when the turn happened.

Investigators noted those changing statements as they continued the case.
There is something especially sobering about the way an ordinary night out turned into a fatal event without any high-speed car crash or dramatic collision. A golf cart may feel harmless compared with a full-size vehicle, but the open sides and lack of restraints can make even a relatively low-speed fall devastating.
Case Ends With DUI Plea
According to the Law&Crime BodyCam narrator, Angelo was booked on charges of DUI and refusal to submit to testing.
Court records later showed that he pleaded no contest to the DUI charge, while the refusal charge was dismissed.
The 64-year-old was sentenced to 364 days of probation and 50 hours of community service.
Christina’s death left the case with a tragic weight that goes far beyond the sentence.
The footage shows Angelo worried about his wife from the beginning, asking deputies where she was going, how serious her injuries were and when he could see her.
By the time the legal case was resolved, the most serious consequence had already happened.
What began as a late-night ride home in a golf cart ended with Christina dead, Angelo arrested and a family left dealing with the aftermath of a crash that appears to have unfolded in only a few seconds.
