A domestic dispute between two social media influencers ended with police taking the woman to jail after her boyfriend told officers that she had grabbed his chain tightly enough to choke him, ripped his shirt and become so physical that he no longer knew what else to do besides call 911.
Bodycam footage shows officers interviewing the couple separately after responding to the disturbance, with the woman repeatedly accusing her boyfriend of harassment while denying that she had become physical with him.
Her boyfriend, identified in the footage as Jay Wavy, gave a different account, telling officers that the pair had been together for about four years and that she had been heavily intoxicated when the argument escalated.
Despite calling police himself, he repeatedly begged officers not to arrest her.
Woman Says Boyfriend Was Harassing Her
Legal Grandma’s narrator first focused on the woman’s interview, pointing out that her explanation of who controlled the room and who was paying for it shifted several times as officers tried to understand what had happened.
She initially described the place as her home and said she paid the bills, at one point referring to paying a mortgage before later talking about rent and eventually acknowledging that her boyfriend had contributed toward the room.

More important to the investigation, officers asked whether either person had become physical.
She initially said no.
When an officer later asked more directly whether she had gotten physical with him, she again denied it and returned instead to complaints that he was harassing her and using his online following against her.
She repeatedly described him as an influencer who believed he could control the situation because he was known on social media.
The woman also admitted that she had been drinking.
“I’m not going to lie. I am a little drunk right now,” she told officers, arguing that she had a right to drink because she had paid for the room.
She Then Threatens to Beat Him in Front of Police
As officers continued asking questions, the conversation became more concerning.
The woman told Officers Gomez and Science that if she beat up her boyfriend later, she would call police herself afterward.
“If I beat the [expletive] out of him, I will call you guys,” she said.
Officers immediately discouraged that idea and told her it was not worth it.
She repeated the statement anyway, telling the officers that if she assaulted Jay Wavy, they would know about it.

At another point, she acknowledged that she had a habit of “lashing out” and being a poor person at times, although she said it took a lot to push her to that point.
Legal Grandma’s narrator highlighted the contradiction between those threats and her repeated claim that she had not touched him.
The comments did not prove what had happened before police arrived, but they hardly helped her position while officers were trying to determine which version of events was more credible.
Boyfriend Says She Choked Him With His Chain
Police then interviewed Jay Wavy away from his girlfriend.
At first, he was reluctant to explain what had happened because he said he did not want to get her into trouble.
“I just need you to calm her ass down,” he told officers.
He said the situation had become physical enough that he was getting hurt, but he repeatedly hesitated when officers asked for details.

Eventually, he told them she had grabbed the chain around his neck and pulled it hard enough that he could not breathe for several seconds.
He said he did not lose consciousness.
According to his account, the couple had initially been getting intimate when the encounter changed and she began talking about his family and his deceased father before grabbing the chain.
He also said she ripped his shirt.
When officers asked whether she punched, slapped or scratched him, however, he said she did not.
He described her as attempting to do more, but said he stopped it.
That distinction matters because the headline may suggest a prolonged beating, while the account given to officers was more specific: an alleged choking incident involving the chain, a torn shirt and attempted additional physical aggression.
He Admits Drinking After First Saying No
The boyfriend’s own account was not perfectly consistent.
When officers first asked whether he had consumed alcohol, he initially said no before quickly clarifying that he had taken a couple of shots on the plane.
He said his girlfriend, by contrast, had consumed much more alcohol and repeatedly described her as extremely drunk.
Jay Wavy told police he had only arrived roughly 40 to 45 minutes earlier after traveling into town and said he had been the person who called 911.
He also stressed that his bags were still unpacked because he had barely arrived before the argument erupted.
Throughout the interview, he defended his girlfriend even while describing the alleged assault.
“She’s a good girl,” he said. “She’s not a bad girl.”
He repeatedly told officers that she would not behave that way sober.
That dynamic is one of the more notable parts of the footage, because the person describing the alleged violence was simultaneously trying to minimize the consequences for the person he accused.
He Repeatedly Begs Police Not to Arrest Her
Once it became clear that officers were considering taking action, Jay Wavy became increasingly worried about his girlfriend being jailed.
“Please don’t take her to jail,” he said several times.
He told officers he did not want charges and only wanted her to calm down.

Police explained that they still had to investigate what happened and that his wishes would be documented, but they could not simply ignore what had been reported.
An officer also warned him that if a protective order was issued, he would not be allowed to contact her even if he wanted to.
Jay Wavy responded that if she were jailed, he intended to bail her out.
He again stressed that the only reason he had called police was because the situation had become so physical that he did not know what other option he had inside the hotel.
That is a difficult position that appears often in domestic-disturbance cases: the person calling for help may want the immediate behavior stopped without wanting the other person arrested.
Once police arrive and hear allegations of physical violence, however, the situation may no longer remain entirely in the caller’s control.
Woman Accuses Police of Siding With an ‘Abuser’
The woman became increasingly angry when officers indicated that she might be taken into custody.
She accused police of believing her boyfriend over her and repeatedly insisted that she had done nothing wrong.
At one point, she threatened to involve an ex-husband she described as connected to the federal government, while officers tried to keep her calm.
As she was being taken away, she called Jay Wavy an abuser and accused police of allowing a domestic-violence offender to get away with mistreating her.
She also complained that her dogs would be left with him and said she had left her own apartment to get away from the situation only to end up arrested herself.
None of those competing accusations were tested in court, and the footage alone does not resolve every claim either person made that night.
Arrest Ultimately Came Down to Public Intoxication

The final charge was considerably narrower than the allegations discussed during the police interviews.
According to information published alongside the footage, the woman was booked for public intoxication.
Legal Grandma’s narrator noted that despite the statements about the chain, torn clothing and her repeated threats to beat her boyfriend, the paperwork apparently did not result in a domestic-violence assault charge.
The boyfriend who had called police reportedly later bailed her out.
The public-intoxication charge was eventually dropped.
That outcome makes the bodycam particularly interesting because the most serious allegations discussed during the encounter did not become the charge that followed her to jail.
Instead, officers appear to have resolved the immediate disturbance by separating the couple and arresting her on the intoxication allegation.
The footage therefore tells a more complicated story than the headline alone suggests.
Jay Wavy accused his girlfriend of choking him with a chain and ripping his shirt, but he denied that she punched or slapped him and repeatedly begged police not to punish her.
She denied becoming physical, accused him of harassment and then repeatedly threatened in front of officers to beat him later.
By the end of the night, she went to jail, he said he planned to bail her out, and the case ultimately ended without the public-intoxication charge remaining in place.
