A police response to a family dispute involving a 12-year-old girl took an unexpected turn when officers discovered that the child’s mother was allegedly wanted in numerous jurisdictions and had provided false identifying information while they tried to investigate what happened inside the home.

Crime Team Cam reported that officers were called on March 3, 2026, after the girl returned from school following a fight and became frightened during an argument with her mother over discipline and the loss of her phone.

The child told police that her mother had hit her, threatened to bring in an older sister to beat her, and taken away her phone, although the footage did not show officers filing a domestic battery charge based on those claims.

What began as an attempt to determine whether the girl was safe instead led to the mother’s arrest on multiple outstanding warrants and an additional accusation of resisting officers as they tried to take her into custody.

The Girl Said She Was Afraid After a School Fight

The footage opened with an officer speaking privately with the 12-year-old outside the residence.

She explained that she had been suspended after another girl allegedly punched her in a school bathroom, leading to a fight. When she returned home, she said her mother became angry, punished her, and threatened further consequences.

The girl claimed her mother struck her, called her names, took her phone, and said an older sister would be brought over to beat her.

She had secretly used an iPad to contact someone for help because, according to her account, she was frightened and worried about what might happen next.

The child also told the officer that this was not the first time police had become involved with the family. She said her mother had previously gone to jail after another call and that she had once run away because of problems at home.

Throughout the conversation, the girl repeatedly asked whether she was in trouble.

The officer assured her that she was not, which was important because children in unstable family situations often blame themselves for the consequences that follow after they seek help.

The Mother Refused to Identify Herself

When officers approached the doorway, the woman said the residence did not belong to her and initially refused to let them enter.

She told police that her daughter had been suspended, lost her phone as punishment, and was angry about it. She denied hitting the child.

The officers said they needed her name to investigate the reported domestic dispute, but she refused to provide it and insisted that she wanted a lawyer and her father present before speaking further.

One officer warned that she could be arrested if she continued refusing to identify herself during the investigation.

The woman eventually gave a name, but the officers became suspicious about the spelling, birth date, and other personal details she provided. They also noted that she had no identification or bank card available to confirm her account.

An officer later reported that she had supplied a false name or incorrect identifying information.

The situation became less about whether police could enter the home and more about establishing who the woman actually was, particularly after the information she gave did not match available records.

A Records Check Revealed Numerous Warrants

After checking the woman’s identity, officers said they discovered that she was wanted on a remarkable number of warrants.

One officer initially described the total as approximately 87, while later statements in the footage referred more generally to dozens of warrants spread across 12 jurisdictions.

Crime Team Cam did not list every warrant or explain the underlying allegations, so the precise total and nature of the cases cannot be independently determined from the video alone.

What was clear was that the officers believed the warrants were active and serious enough to require immediate arrest.

They asked the woman to step away from the kitchen and place down her phone, telling her that they now knew her true identity and that she had provided an incorrect birth date.

The mother said she did not feel safe moving without her relatives present, but officers told her she was under arrest and directed her to put her hands behind her back.

The discovery dramatically changed the encounter. Police had arrived to investigate a child’s report, but the mother’s unresolved legal history became the central issue once her identity was confirmed.

The Arrest Turned Into a Struggle

The woman resisted as officers attempted to handcuff her, screaming and accusing one officer of grabbing her around the neck.

Police repeatedly ordered her to stop resisting and warned that her fingers could be injured if she continued pulling against the handcuffs.

As they moved her outside, she claimed she was being dragged and asked to retrieve her phone and kiss her baby before leaving.

The officers refused some of those requests, saying she had made the situation more difficult by resisting.

At moments, their responses sounded unnecessarily sharp, particularly when one officer told her that she had lost the right to ask for favors. Officers still had to control the arrest, but a calmer tone may have reduced tension in front of the children.

Crime Team Cam said the woman was ultimately charged with resisting arrest in addition to being detained on the outstanding warrants.

The footage did not provide a full booking record or final court disposition, so those accusations should be understood as allegations rather than convictions.

Relatives Blamed the Child as Police Searched for Care

Once the mother was taken away, the officers faced a second urgent problem: deciding who would care for the children.

A relative named Jerrica arrived and discussed taking some of them, but family members appeared divided over who would accept responsibility for the 12-year-old.

Several relatives described the girl as unruly or difficult, and one man suggested that she would regret calling police because her mother could now remain incarcerated for years.

An officer immediately pushed back against that claim.

He told the girl that her mother’s arrest was the result of choices the adult had already made, including accumulating warrants and allegedly lying about her identity, rather than anything the child had done by asking for help.

“This is in no way your fault,” the officer told her, explaining that her mother’s previous decisions carried legal consequences.

That was one of the most important moments in the footage. Whatever problems existed in the family or at school, a 12-year-old was not responsible for the warrants that existed before police arrived.

Adults openly blaming her while she was already frightened risked adding guilt to an already traumatic night.

Officers Considered Contacting Child Services

Some relatives said they did not want the girl placed with them and suggested she should be sent into state care.

Police contacted the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, referred to repeatedly in the footage as DFCS, and explained that the mother was being taken to jail while immediate family members were refusing to accept the child.

Sergeant Harve told the agency representative that the woman had dozens of warrants and that the family described the girl as disruptive and difficult to manage.

The representative asked officers to keep exploring family placements before removing her from the home.

Meanwhile, the girl’s coach and school counselor remained nearby and offered support. One officer described her as calm, articulate, and able to explain what had happened despite the chaos around her.

The girl also told police that she had not eaten properly in roughly two days and usually ate at school rather than at home.

An officer arranged for someone to buy her a cheeseburger meal while the placement discussions continued.

That detail made the case feel much larger than a single argument over a school fight. The concerns now included possible neglect, unstable guardianship, hunger, family rejection, and a deeply unhealthy relationship between the child and her mother.

A Guardian Eventually Agreed to Take Her

A woman named Lisa later arrived and said she held guardianship over the girl.

Officers explained that the mother had been arrested on warrants from multiple jurisdictions and had allegedly resisted arrest, making it unlikely that she would return home quickly.

Lisa expressed frustration with the girl’s behavior but also acknowledged that the child had been shaped by difficult circumstances at home.

An officer then brought Lisa and the girl together for a direct conversation.

He told the child that she needed to respect her guardian, follow instructions, and make better decisions, while also stating that her relationship with her mother did not appear healthy.

The conversation was firm without placing the entire burden on the 12-year-old.

By the end of the footage, Lisa appeared prepared to take responsibility for her, avoiding an immediate placement in state custody.

Crime Team Cam concluded that the mother had been arrested on the outstanding warrants and charged with resisting, but the video left many questions unanswered about the original domestic complaint and the longer-term safety of the children.

The case began with a school fight and an argument over discipline, yet it exposed a family already carrying far more serious problems.

Police uncovered the mother’s extensive legal trouble, but the more troubling discovery may have been how quickly some relatives blamed and rejected a frightened child who had called for help.
