A welfare check at an apartment complex in Mechanicville, New York, ended with police discovering six members of one family dead inside a grandmother’s home, including her adult daughter and four young grandchildren.

The victims were identified as 64-year-old Amy Steadman; her 44-year-old daughter, Sarah Myers; and Myers’ four children: Harper Harmon, 13; Hudson Harmon, 11; Gavin Harmon, 10; and Gracelynn Harmon, 10.

Mechanicville Police Chief Bill Rabbit said officers were called to the Harris Avenue apartment on June 23 for a welfare check. They found all six family members dead inside Steadman’s apartment.

Police have not announced final causes of death, and toxicology testing remains pending. But investigators have said the evidence found at the scene appeared to point toward intentional poisoning, while one of the children also suffered fatal sharp-force injuries.
