A breakup in Roswell, New Mexico, allegedly escalated into a six-hour airport lockdown after a woman told airport personnel that her ex-boyfriend was traveling with a bomb, triggering a large police response before investigators ultimately determined there were no explosives, according to bodycam footage and narration shared by Cop Cam Reveal.
The channel said the incident began after 47-year-old Brooke Ayers and her 34-year-old boyfriend argued on April 7, 2026, while he was visiting from Indiana. By the following morning, the man had rented a vehicle and was heading to Roswell International Air Center to leave town when authorities received the bomb report.
Police initially treated him as a possible terrorist threat, but over the next several hours, investigators began to suspect that the real crime may have been the warning itself.
Police Shut Down The Airport
Cop Cam Reveal said authorities received the bomb report at about 8:45 a.m., prompting local officers, state police and bomb personnel to respond within minutes.
The airport was closed while investigators searched for explosives and tried to locate the man named in the report.
When officers found him sitting in a rental vehicle, he appeared confused about why he was being detained.

Bodycam footage shows officers ordering him out of the vehicle, handcuffing him and reading him his rights.
The man repeatedly asked why he was being held.
Eventually, an officer explained that police had received a bomb threat involving him and that the FBI and state police had also been notified.
The man denied having a bomb and said he believed the report was “bulls—.”
Even so, police could not simply take his word for it. A threat involving an aircraft or airport has to be treated seriously until investigators can rule it out, which meant the lockdown continued.
Officers First Met Ayers During A Welfare Check
Before police fully understood the bomb allegation, officers had already been sent to Ayers’ home for a welfare check.
The man had apparently contacted authorities because he was concerned about her emotional state after the breakup.
When officers arrived, Ayers described the relationship as a painful breakup and told them the man had come from Indiana to visit her.

She said he had left money on her counter after they had sex, something she took as deeply insulting.
Ayers told the officers she was upset because she believed the “love of my life” had decided on her birthday that she was not worthy of being loved.
During that first encounter, officers appeared sympathetic.
One officer even hugged her after she asked for physical comfort.
At that point, they apparently had no reason to believe she would soon become the focus of the investigation.
Ex-Boyfriend Points Police Toward Ayers
Back at the airport, the detained man told investigators that Ayers was likely the person who had made the bomb report.
He said she was heartbroken because he was leaving.
The man also confirmed that he had called 911 the previous day out of concern for her welfare.
When officers told him the bomb threat had reportedly come from a woman connected to him, he identified Ayers by name.
He declined to answer many additional questions without a lawyer, which kept investigators from quickly resolving the situation.
That hesitation may have been legally understandable, but it left police with a difficult problem: they still had to determine whether an actual explosive threat existed while one of the main people involved was not providing much information.
Police Return To Ayers’ Home
Officers later returned to Ayers’ residence and questioned her directly about the call.
At first, she repeatedly demanded to know whether they had a warrant and told them to stay off her property.

A sergeant told her that investigators already knew she had made the report and asked whether the bomb claim was legitimate.
Ayers did not give a clear answer.
At one point, she told police that her ex-boyfriend was already detained and said, “Well, then he’s going to have to deal with it.”
The conversation grew more tense when officers told her they wanted her to come to the police department for questioning.
Ayers refused.
Then she made a threat that immediately changed the officers’ response.
According to the bodycam footage, she said that if officers entered her property they would have to kill her because she would grab a knife.
An officer immediately told her she had just threatened them with deadly force.
She was then detained.
Arrest Becomes Violent And Chaotic
Cop Cam Reveal said Ayers resisted while officers tried to place her into custody.
The channel alleged that she dug her fingernails into an officer’s arm and continued fighting as police tried to move her toward a patrol vehicle.
Ayers repeatedly asked officers to shoot her and made several additional threats.
During transport, she continued insisting that her former boyfriend had a bomb.
“I hope he gets shot,” she said at one point, according to the footage.

She also threatened officers, telling one that she hoped police would be blown up and saying she would shoot them.
Those statements forced officers to keep treating both her behavior and the bomb allegation seriously.
The situation had already gone far beyond an ordinary domestic dispute. By then, an airport had been shut down, bomb personnel were actively searching for explosives, and officers were dealing with a detainee making violent threats.
Investigators Press Her On The Bomb Story
At the police station, a detective gave Ayers another opportunity to explain what she believed had happened.
She continued claiming that her former boyfriend had threatened to bomb the airport.
But when investigators asked whether she had actually seen a bomb, she said she did not know whether he had one.
The detective also questioned why she contacted a friend who worked at the airport instead of calling 911 directly if she genuinely believed an attack was imminent.
Ayers said she believed her friend could handle the situation.
Police pointed out that this explanation made little sense if she truly thought an airport bombing was about to occur.
The discussion appeared to deepen investigators’ doubts.
Ayers also acknowledged sending a message along the lines of being able to “ruin” her ex-boyfriend’s life, though she tied that comment to her claim that he had threatened the airport.
Her Behavior Deteriorates At The Station
Ayers became increasingly combative while being detained, according to the video.
She repeatedly demanded a lawyer, struggled with officers and later urinated on the floor while handcuffed.
Police eventually placed her in a safety restraint device because of concerns that she might injure herself or others.

She continued arguing with officers and at one point challenged them about how far they were willing to go if she started fighting while restrained.
Her behavior became serious enough that officers ultimately transported her to a hospital, where Cop Cam Reveal said she appeared to be sedated by medical staff.
The episode is difficult to watch because what began as a breakup dispute had by then consumed hours of police resources and turned into a volatile mental and physical struggle.
Bomb Squad Finds Nothing After Six Hours
While officers dealt with Ayers, bomb personnel continued searching the airport.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., nearly six hours after the original report, investigators completed their search and found no explosives.
Cop Cam Reveal said police then concluded that the man initially treated as a potential bombing suspect was instead the victim of a false report.
The airport lockdown had lasted for most of the day.
Travelers were kept out, flights and normal operations were disrupted, and multiple law-enforcement agencies had been pulled into a threat that authorities ultimately determined was unfounded.
That is what makes a false bomb report so serious. Even without an explosive device, the consequences can be massive because police have no safe option other than responding as though the threat might be real.
Ayers Faces Multiple Felony Charges
According to Cop Cam Reveal, Ayers was later charged with four offenses stemming from the incident.
Those included felony bomb scare, felony aggravated assault upon a peace officer with intent to commit a felony, felony battery upon a peace officer and misdemeanor resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
The channel said the related court cases were still pending when its video was produced.
Ayers is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
What began as a private breakup between two people allegedly grew into an airport-wide emergency, a bomb squad deployment, an hours-long lockdown and a series of confrontations with police.
The most striking part of the case is the scale of the response compared with how the incident allegedly began: one person deciding to leave a relationship and catch a flight home.
