A trip through airport security turned into a theft investigation at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport after deputies confronted a man accused of taking a woman’s purse from a TSA screening bin and placing it with his own belongings.
Bodycam footage presented by the YouTube channel NYDETECTIVE shows the February 21, 2025, encounter, which began after deputies were told that a passenger had picked up the purse while collecting his property at the checkpoint. When officers located the man elsewhere in the terminal, he initially denied having it before eventually acknowledging that he had taken the item because he thought someone had left it behind.
The channel said the man was ultimately charged with theft.
Deputies Tracked Him Down Inside The Airport
According to NYDETECTIVE’s narration, deputies were dispatched after receiving a report that a purse had disappeared from a TSA security screening bin.
The bodycam footage picks up after officers located the man in the terminal and asked to speak with him, while he appeared focused on getting to his flight.
One deputy quickly asked where the purse was.
