A crowded beach call that began with lifeguards trying to bring a swimmer safely back to shore turned into a drawn-out arrest after a man allegedly assaulted a lifeguard, argued with families, refused to leave, and then fought deputies while insisting he was the one being mistreated.
Retired Sheriff Mark Lamb, reacting to the bodycam footage on his Sheriff Lamb YouTube channel, described the man as the kind of person who appeared to believe normal rules did not apply to him, from the way he allegedly treated lifeguards to the way he parked his car across multiple beach spaces.
The footage, which Lamb said came from Body Cam Ninja, showed deputies arriving after lifeguards reported that the man had been out too far in the water, had resisted their efforts to bring him in, and had become combative when they tried to explain the safety issue.
Lifeguards Said The Man Was Too Far Out
In the footage reviewed by Lamb, a beach official told deputies that lifeguards had gone out to check on the man during what was described as a water rescue situation. According to the official, the swimmer was beyond the safe area, so a lifeguard made contact to bring him closer to shore and make sure he was okay.
The official said the situation escalated when the man allegedly kicked one of the guards twice underwater while they were trying to bring him in. He also said the man began yelling back and forth with nearby families after returning to the beach.

One deputy referred to the man as “big dog,” a phrase Lamb described as something many people would take as a casual or even friendly expression. The man took offense, saying he was not a dog and accusing the deputy of disrespecting a citizen.

After several warnings, deputies told him he was going to jail. When he continued resisting, they moved in and put him in handcuffs.
