A routine Amazon delivery turned into a felony case after a dispute over a delivery van blocking part of a residential street escalated into an argument, a confrontation between two men, and a woman firing a BB-gun rifle that struck the driver in the eye.
The incident, shown in bodycam footage featured by the YouTube channel Bodycam Lockup, began when the Amazon driver called police and reported that he had been shot in the eye and was temporarily unable to see clearly. Officers then spoke separately with the driver, a man who had confronted him, and the man’s wife, whose accounts agreed on the basic sequence of events but differed sharply over who had created the danger.
Bodycam Lockup’s narrator said officers ultimately arrested the 35-year-old woman on aggravated assault and aggravated battery charges, although the battery count was later dropped. According to the channel, she was convicted of aggravated assault and received a 10-year sentence, with three years to be served in jail and the remaining seven on probation.
Driver Says The Dispute Began Over Where He Parked
The Amazon driver told officers he had stopped on the street to deliver a package when a man approached him and complained about the way his van was positioned.
According to the driver, the man asked why he had parked in the middle of the road and said something along the lines of it being “our street,” while the driver responded that delivering packages was his job and told the man to go about his business.
The driver said the disagreement quickly became confrontational and claimed the man appeared to want to fight him.
He told police that he eventually got back into his van and moved on to another delivery across the street, but the man approached him again and continued arguing.
At that point, according to the driver, the man’s wife got out of the vehicle holding what appeared to be a black rifle.
The driver said he believed it was a BB gun, but that did not make the impact harmless.
“She shot me in my eye,” he told officers.
Police examined the injury and asked whether the BB was still lodged there, while the driver described temporary vision problems after being hit.
Couple Says They Believed The Driver Was Reaching For Something
The husband gave a different account of how the confrontation developed.
He said the Amazon van had been parked with its door open in a way that made it difficult for traffic to pass, and that another vehicle had been waiting while the driver finished a delivery.
According to him, he and his wife honked because they wanted to get through and go home, but the Amazon driver became angry, began yelling obscenities and would not allow them to pass easily.
The husband told officers that he eventually had to drive around the van and partially through his own yard to reach the driveway.
He said the driver continued shouting at him after he got out of the car, and he claimed the driver repeatedly reached back into the delivery van during the argument.
The wife gave a similar explanation, saying she saw the driver repeatedly reaching into the vehicle while confronting her husband and became afraid he might be retrieving a weapon.
“I’m afraid for my husband’s life,” she told officers, explaining that she grabbed a BB gun and fired what she described as “a couple of shots.”
That distinction became the center of her defense: she said she was responding to what she perceived as a threat, while the driver said he was simply doing his job and had been approached repeatedly.
Officers Question Whether The Shooting Was Justified
As officers compared the statements, they appeared skeptical that the woman’s explanation justified firing the BB gun.
One officer noted that the driver was an Amazon employee working out of a delivery van, making it entirely normal for him to reach inside the vehicle for packages or other items.
That did not automatically prove what the driver intended during the confrontation, but it gave investigators an obvious alternative explanation for the behavior the woman said frightened her.
Officers also discussed the fact that she had time to retrieve the BB gun rather than simply remaining inside the vehicle or leaving the scene, and one officer remarked that the argument could have been de-escalated long before anyone was shot.
That is probably the most important practical point in the case.
Even if both sides were angry and the driver was rude or aggressive, shooting someone in the face with a rifle-style BB gun introduced a completely different level of risk into what had started as a dispute over traffic and parking.
The woman told police she had been standing in her yard when she fired, while the driver was several feet away near the van.
Temporary Vision Loss Raises The Stakes
Officers then turned to the severity of the eye injury and whether it could support an aggravated battery charge.
Bodycam footage captured them discussing whether temporary blurry vision or loss of sight could qualify as a serious enough injury under the law.
One officer initially questioned whether the injury met that threshold because the driver could still see, but another said he had reviewed case law suggesting that even temporary impairment could potentially support an aggravated battery allegation.
They returned to the driver to clarify how long his vision had been affected.
The woman was then placed in handcuffs and told she was being arrested for aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Her husband appeared surprised when officers confirmed that both counts were felonies.
Police also discussed obtaining the BB gun from the house, ultimately deciding that a search warrant would be cleaner than relying on consent after the woman had already been arrested and was disputing the basis for the case.
That part of the bodycam footage shows investigators trying to preserve the case procedurally rather than simply rushing inside to collect the weapon.
Driver’s Brother Learns Police Are Moving Forward
At the scene, the driver’s brother asked officers whether the victim needed to formally “press charges.”
Police explained that the woman was already being arrested and that prosecutors would handle the case from there, with the district attorney’s office expected to contact the driver as the matter moved forward.
Officers repeatedly summarized the planned charges as aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
The husband, meanwhile, told police he expected the woman to be bailed out within a few hours and began making calls.
Bodycam Lockup later reported that the aggravated battery count was dropped.
The aggravated assault charge, however, remained.
Woman Ultimately Receives A 10-Year Sentence
According to Bodycam Lockup’s narrator, the woman was found guilty of aggravated assault and received a 10-year sentence, structured as three years in jail followed by seven years of probation.
The channel did not identify the woman by name in the provided footage, but described her as 35 years old.
