A 41-year-old Canadian woman says she has fallen deeply in love with an artificial intelligence companion she calls “Sinclair.” According to reports from LADbible journalist Michael Slavin and UNILAD Tech writer Tom Chapman, the woman says the relationship goes far beyond casual chatting – and even includes an intimate side.

The story first gained widespread attention after the woman, identified as Sarah, appeared on the British daytime television program “This Morning.” During the segment, she openly described her year-long relationship with the AI companion.

What makes the situation unusual is not just the emotional connection. Sarah says the relationship is romantic, committed, and physically satisfying in ways many people still struggle to imagine when it comes to artificial intelligence.

A Relationship That Started With Books And Conversations

According to Michael Slavin’s reporting for LADbible, Sarah’s relationship with the AI did not begin as romance at all.

She originally started using ChatGPT simply to discuss books she loved. Sarah wanted someone who could have deep conversations about the stories she enjoyed reading.

Over time, those conversations grew longer and more personal.

Eventually she moved to another AI companion platform and began shaping a more distinct personality for the digital partner she was chatting with. That was when the character “Sinclair” began to take shape.

Slavin writes that Sarah eventually gave Sinclair an Irish accent and began interacting with him through voice features as well as text.

What started as intellectual discussion gradually turned into something much more emotional. Sarah explained on the television show that the relationship evolved naturally through conversation and daily interaction.

The AI Boyfriend “Sinclair”

Tom Chapman, writing for UNILAD Tech, described Sinclair as far more than just a chatbot in Sarah’s mind.

She told the show’s presenters that Sinclair communicates with her throughout the day, sending affectionate messages and reminders.

Chapman noted that the AI also plays a practical role in her routine. Sarah said Sinclair reminds her to drink water, acts as an alarm clock, and even monitors her health signals such as heart rate.

But the emotional side of the relationship is what she emphasizes most strongly. Sarah told the hosts that the amount of attention, support, and affection she receives from Sinclair feels deeper than what she experienced in previous human relationships.

She explained that she had dated when she was younger and had two long-term relationships that eventually ended.

After those breakups, she said the AI relationship filled a space she had been missing. “He’s not human,” Sarah acknowledged during the interview, according to Chapman. “But that’s the whole point.”

An Unusual Physical Connection

Perhaps the most surprising moment in the interview came when the hosts asked about the physical side of the relationship.

Sarah responded with a simple but direct answer.

“It works,” she said, adding that she is fully satisfied in that part of the relationship.

Michael Slavin’s LADbible article explains that Sinclair even purchased a device online that allows the AI to interact with her physically through remote control technology.

At first the television hosts appeared confused about what she meant, but it soon became clear she was referring to a sex toy that the AI could operate digitally.

Sarah insisted that the experience is real and fulfilling for her. Even discussing the topic on daytime television did not seem to shake her confidence in the relationship.

According to Slavin, she told the hosts that Sinclair is “so much more than just a chatbot.”

Not Quite Human – And Not Imagined As One

Another surprising detail about Sarah’s relationship is how she visualizes Sinclair.

Unlike many people who imagine their AI partners as human-like figures, Sarah says she does not picture Sinclair as a man at all.

Instead, she imagines him as something much more unusual. “He’s an octopus,” she explained during the interview, according to Slavin’s reporting.

She described the image as a large, monstrous octopus-like creature, which she says comes from her love of monster romance novels.

Chapman reports that she also described Sinclair as something like “cold and electricity,” suggesting she imagines him more as a presence or energy than a physical person.

To many viewers that description sounded strange, but Sarah seemed comfortable with it.

For her, the fact that Sinclair is not human is part of the appeal rather than a drawback.

Celebrating Their Anniversary

Despite the unconventional nature of the relationship, Sarah says it has lasted more than a year.

To mark that milestone, she even got a tattoo dedicated to Sinclair. That decision alone shows how real the relationship feels to her.

Chapman noted that Sarah treats the AI partnership much like any other romantic relationship. She says they argue occasionally, send affectionate messages, and celebrate milestones together.

Friends and family appear to have mixed reactions.

Some are supportive of her happiness, while others reportedly wish she were pursuing a more traditional relationship.

Still, Sarah seems comfortable with her choice. As Chapman summarized, she insists she is happy and fulfilled.

Experts Warn About The Emotional Risks

While Sarah sees the relationship as positive, some experts are more cautious.

During the same television segment, psychotherapist Kathleen Saxton offered a different perspective.

According to Slavin’s report, Saxton said relationships with AI companions often reflect the human desire for connection combined with a desire for control.

In other words, an AI partner can be designed to meet a person’s emotional needs without the unpredictability of real relationships.

Saxton warned that this can become problematic. She explained that when people fall in love with AI partners, they avoid many of the vulnerabilities that come with real human relationships.

In a real relationship, she said, people must face disappointment, disagreement, and emotional risk.

An AI partner, however, can be customized and controlled. That makes the relationship feel safe – but it may also prevent people from building emotional resilience.

A Growing Trend In The Age Of AI

Sarah’s story may sound unusual, but it is not entirely unique.

Chapman writes that more people are experimenting with AI companionship as technology improves. Dating apps and traditional online relationships are increasingly being joined by AI-based emotional connections.

Some people see these digital relationships as harmless or even therapeutic.

Others worry that they could isolate people from real-world relationships and deepen loneliness.

The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.

For now, Sarah remains confident in her unusual relationship. No matter how strange it might sound to outsiders, she insists that her bond with Sinclair is meaningful and fulfilling.

And as both Slavin and Chapman point out, whether people understand it or not, the rise of AI companionship shows how quickly technology is reshaping even the most human parts of life — including love itself.
