Swivel Knot

The Swivel Knot is also known as the Cairnton or Woods Knot. Knots used as Swivel Knots, while attached to the shank of a ring or eye, must not impair the action of the swivel. It is also an accepted knot to attach a line to a fly because, tied around the hook's shank, it creates a straighter pull.

To Tie a Swivel Knot:

Pass the end through the eye or ring, then wrap and tuck like shown.
Push the second loop over the eye or ring, to rest snugly alongside the first one.
Tighten the knot.
